Description
Created by COLL.EO in 2012, CARJACKED is a counter-appropriation of the BMW Art Cars initiative, developed within the virtual spaces of the popular Forza Motorsport 4 racing game.
CARJACKED consists of seventeen virtual cars after Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian, Cy Twombly, Barbara Kruger, Damien Hirst, Maurizio Cattelan, Gerhard Richter, Yayoi Kusama, Sol LeWitt, Julian Opie, Bansky, Frank West, Takashi Murakami, Invader, Bernhard Fuchs, Jake and Dinos Chapman, and Colleen Flaherty. CARJACKED brings the aura of the motor vehicle back into the (video)game. Literally: these virtual automobiles, or, rather, sculptures on wheels, are playable works of art.
This limited edition volume by CONCRETE PRESS provides a visual and critical documentatio of the project, bringing CARJACKED to a wider audience. Featuring contributions from Isabelle Arvers and Jeffrey T. Schnapp and a long conversation between COLL.EO and Carlo Ricafort, CARJACKED is an important contribution to the growing field of Game Art.
We are releasing 100 copies.
